The Research and Development Center, which became S.C. Plasmaterm S.A., was founded in 1965. It established an international reputation in the field of material science and surface engineering. Plasmaterm inherited a unique expertise, not only in surface engineering, but also in investment casting with lost-wax patterns. These were the assets to build up a business in investment casting, material testing and analysis, surface engineering – aiming especially plasma nitriding on both, research and production scale.
Transforming the former research institute with its manufacturing facilities included, Plasmaterm SA was established in 1993 as a private company by Prof. Dr. Eng. Zoltán KOLOZSVÁRY and his colleagues, with management and employees as shareholders. Originally, only the laboratories were taken over. Later, in 1998, the investment casting foundry was also acquired and in 2005 a new investment extended the activities to the field of machining and assembling high-tech security locks.
